On November 19, QNU held a plaque awarding ceremony for Fujian-Taiwan Sports Culture Forum /Minnan Sports Culture Research Center. Nearly 40 leaders and guests attended the event, including Shi Ligang, the head coach of the Quanzhou Shaolin Temple Martial Monks Group, vice president of the Quanzhou Martial Arts Association, president of the Fengze District Martial Arts Association.

During the event, Xiahou Jianbing, a Standing Committee member of the University CPC Committee and Vice President, awarded the plaque of “Quanzhou Normal University Minnan Sports Culture Research Center” to the School of Physical Education. Cui Lequan, a professor of library science at the Sports and Cultural Development Center of the General Administration of Sports of China and expert enjoying special allowances from China’s State Council, delivered a keynote report entitled Exchanges of Traditional Sports between Fujian and Taiwan and Cross-Strait Cultural Identity. At the subsequent roundtable themed on New Opportunities for Sports Development in Fujian and Taiwan Under the Context of New Cross-Strait Integration, the participants, focusing on the exploration into and the protection and promotion of traditional sports culture, conducted in-depth discussions on the inheritance, development, innovation, and social impact of sports culture in the southern Fujian and Taiwan.
